Time for fieldwork in winter.
As a geographer, sometimes I don’t have enough motivation to do the fieldwork because of that I am not interested in anything in the city where I live. I always said to myself that I would do a lot of fieldwork if I lived in a metropolitan city such as Istanbul. This indicates only my laziness. Meanwhile, it was taught me how to be good geographer during my undergraduate period: we always try to understand our world wherever we live. Even if this point of view can be seen romanticized, we often need it:)
I tried to teach some theory on how to do research in fieldwork but I will probably conduct research with my undergraduate students in summer. That means this fieldwork is just a trip to somewhere. So where?
The title of fieldwork indicates both the route and the aim of fieldwork: “From theory to practice: Fieldwork around Ihlara Valley”We met in the campus of Nevsehir university on Saturday morning, and then we left ten minutes late. I said to myself: That’s normal because we know Turkish people don’t make anything on time:)
Actually I had planned to write this fieldwork in detail but I didn’t have time to concentrate on it. For now, the only one thing to share here is the places which we visited. These places were Derinkuyu Underground City, Ihlara Valley, Selime Cathedral and Narlı Crater Lake.

But this fieldwork inspired me to write a story which I call it “Superimposition”
